Being kind, living honestly, and doing the right thing can and will be perceived by others as a weakness.. but do it anyway. This is correct, people mistake these things for being naive, dumb, or just weird. It is unfortunate, but these are things we must do, because this is the way to live.
Sometimes people’s jealousy does, unfortunately, contribute to the way you are treated. I have learned, very difficultly, to see the positive things in life over the negative. There is plenty in life to be grateful for.. and plenty to wish change upon… but day to day, be grateful for what you do have. The way people treat you isn’t directly your fault. It is theirs. Whatever they have going on inside their minds is projected in the way they go through their daily life. It isn’t your fault. Just continue to be kind to that person.
Things aren’t always fair. Stand up for what you believe, stand up for yourself, and do the right thing. Everyone makes mistakes, but you can only try to do things in a way that you are proud of them.
We can’t expect others to live the way we do. We mustn’t get stressed out over things that are beyond our control. All we can do is make sure we are living the way we know is right. And I believe these things to be a good starting point.
The best quote to accompany my thoughts today:
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
